2015 Dodge Durango

September 2, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The Dodge brand is tearing into its centennial year as America’s mainstream performance brand, celebrating its 100th anniversary on July 1, 2014. With the purification of the brand and consolidation with SRT, Dodge is getting back to its performance roots with every single model it offers.

The consolidated Dodge and SRT brands will offer a complete lineup of performance vehicles that stand out within their own segments. Dodge is the “mainstream performance” brand within the Chrysler showroom. SRT is positioned as the “ultimate performance” halo of the Dodge brand, together creating a complete and balanced performance brand with one vision and one voice.

“At Dodge, we don’t make category cars. We make category cars nervous,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO of the Dodge and SRT brands. “Dodge strives to turn everyday vehicles into personal statements. Our vehicles are modern performance cars that deliver that visceral feel that reminds buyers why they fell in love with driving in the first place.”

The Dodge brand has a drive to innovate and a passion to engineer vehicles that are faster, better or smarter and deliver an attitude that was built into the brand by the Dodge brothers themselves a century ago.

With 100 years of history to build on, as well as the innovative spirit of its founders, Dodge is taking the best of its innumerable successes over the years – the technological advancements of the ‘30s and ‘40s, design evolution of the ‘50s, the racing heritage of the ‘60s, the horsepower of the ‘70s, the efficiency of the ‘80s and unbelievable styling of the ‘90s – as it paves the road to its future.

From muscle cars to compact cars, minivans, crossovers and full-size SUVs, the Dodge brand’s full lineup of 2015 models deliver best-in-class horsepower, class-exclusive technology, unmatched capability and a slew of cool features, such as LED headlamps, Dodge signature racetrack tail lamps, dual exhaust, 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment centers and 7-inch thin-film transistor (TFT) customizable gauge clusters, to name a few.

Dodge fans and owners can get involved with the brand by going towww.dodge.com, Facebook at www.facebook.com/dodge  and to the Dodge brand’s blog atwww.redlinedodge.com.

2014 Chrysler Town & Country

2014 Chrysler Town & Country

September 2, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Never before has the Chrysler brand experienced such high levels of awareness and consideration. And, with the brand’s all-new flagship now available at dealerships, and with plans to unveil another important, thoroughly refreshed vehicle later this year, “America’s Import” is clearly on a roll.

“Today’s Chrysler brand stands for quality, design, craftsmanship, performance and efficiency, innovation and technology, all at a very attainable price,” said Al Gardner, president and CEO, Chrysler Brand — Chrysler Group LLC. “We’re returning to our roots, the quintessential American brand — a brand that plays at the heart of the mass market, with world-class products that play in all the volume car and people mover segments.”

The proof is in the pudding.

Since 2009, Chrysler Town & Country sales are up 45 percent.

Sales of the 300 are up 50 percent from 2009, and the vehicle has more than 10 percent market share of the full-size car market.

In the mid-size car segment, since replacing the Sebring sedan in 2010, Chrysler 200 sales are up almost four-fold, gaining four full points of share in this highly competitive segment. The Chrysler 200 sedan was the top-selling car for Chrysler Group LLC for the last two years. Awareness and consideration for the brand has increased significantly. Chrysler brand loyalty has improved seven points, or 23 percent over the last three and one-half years. And, since 2009, sales have increased 56 percent to over 350,000 units annually.

That’s all before the all-new, beautifully appointed flagship 2015 Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan arrived in dealer showrooms.

All new from the ground up, the 2015 Chrysler 200 debuts a beautiful exterior design featuring the new “face” of the Chrysler brand – a thoughtful, exquisitely crafted interior and an exceptional driving experience, complements of a segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission and the Compact U.S.–wide (CUS-wide) chassis. With the choice of two world-class engines, an innovative all-wheel-drive system, available Sport mode and paddle shifters for an engaged driving experience, and highway fuel economy of 36 miles per gallon (mpg), the all-new Chrysler 200 makes the commute something drivers will look forward to.

Beginning in the fourth quarter, the 2015 Chrysler 200 models will feature engine stop-start (ESS) technology, an emission-lowering and fuel-saving feature on 2015 Chrysler 200 models powered by the 2.4-liter MultiAir2 Tigershark I-4 engine.

“Chrysler is a brand that strives to be ‘ambitious American ingenuity,’ striking the perfect balance of substance and style,” Gardner said. “Chrysler is the mainstream American brand – designed to take on the competition, selling cars and family people movers, yet differentiating itself from other mass market brands through design, innovation and technology and interior craftsmanship.”

In the full-size segment, Chrysler plans to launch a thoroughly refreshed 300 and 300c later this year. They will be shown for the first time in Los Angeles in November, and will be in dealerships early in the first quarter of 2015.

Until then, consumers will still be able to purchase 2014 models, from the Chrysler 300, to the John Varvatos edition, to the 300 SRT. Be it V-6 or V-8, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, there’s a 300 for everyone.

Then there’s the stalwart Chrysler Town & Country minivan.

For 2015, the Town & Country adds models on both ends of the spectrum, for consumers to choose from.

The 2015 Town & Country Platinum features a luxurious interior environment with Nappa premium leather on all three rows of seating, dual-screen Blu-ray DVD system, power sunroof, and memory seats and mirrors. Also new for 2015 is the Town & Country LX — starting under $30,000 — which offers customers a number of creature comforts that come standard at a great price, including power sliding doors, power liftgate and 17-inch aluminum wheels and leather-trimmed seats and class-exclusive Stow ‘n Go seating.

It all adds up to a significantly changing, formidable lineup – one that will only grow and prosper moving forward.

“We will strive to be consistently flawless, and set new standards with every model, giving consumers the best features and options in every stunning vehicle we make, all at a price point they can afford. We are Chrysler. We are America. We build cars and people movers that consumers will be proud to have in their driveways. We are ‘America’s Import.’”

Dodge Embraces Viper’s Roots and Revs Up Excitement, Delivering the Ultimate Hand-built American Exotic Supercar with a New Starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $84,995

0
0

September 8, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Dodge is reconfirming its commitment to the future of the Viper and repositioning the iconic Detroit-built supercar for 2015, giving the snake more horsepower, improved fuel economy and a new starting price $15,000 less than the 2014 model it replaces.

For 2015, the hand-built American exotic now delivers an increased 645 horsepower, gets up to 20 miles per gallon and is offered at a new starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $84,995 (all prices exclude tax, title, license, destination and gas guzzler tax).

Reaching back into its 100-year history, Dodge is using the formula that successfully launched the original 1992 Dodge Viper, but with even more power, refinement and craftsmanship. Adjusting for inflation, the 2015 model year Viper is priced competitively to the first generation Viper, as calculated by Kelley Blue Book. When Viper was first introduced, the U.S. MSRP was $50,700. Adjusted for inflation — that equates to $86,130 in today’s dollars.

Price history of the Dodge Viper

“The Gen 1 Viper had 400 horsepower. It didn’t have air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, traction control or stability control. It didn’t even have real windows. It was the purest, rawest and most visceral American performance car of its time,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO — Dodge and SRT Brands. “The Gen 5 Viper maintains the purity of the original car, with its seductive design, perfect weight balance and all-aluminum V10 with an additional 245 horsepower. But the rawness has been tamed with state-of-the-art five-mode ESC, two-mode suspension, ABS, traction control, launch control and a lightweight structure comprised of carbon fiber, magnesium and aluminum. Despite the Gen 5’s massive leap forward in technology and performance, we’re pulling its starting price back to the equivalent of the original Gen 1 car.”

Dodge is repositioning every Viper model with a lower starting price.

New prices for Dodge Viper

In addition to the new starting price, all existing Gen 5 Viper owners will get a certificate worth $15,000 that can be redeemed toward the purchase of a new Dodge Viper. This $15,000 certificate is in addition to the $15,000 price reduction.

Effective immediately, all existing 2014 model year Vipers in dealer inventory will also be re-invoiced and receive a new Monroney label that highlights the $15,000 price reduction.

Dodge is also expanding Viper sales beyond the current SRT network of dealers. More than 2,300 Dodge dealers will be able to sell the 2015 Dodge Viper.

“We have a saying at Dodge: ‘If you know… you know,’ and if you know Viper, you know this is big news,” Kuniskis added, “and if you don’t know Viper, it’s time to check it out and see what makes owning and driving the iconic Viper so much more unique, exclusive and interesting than any other American performance vehicle.”

New 2015 Dodge Viper models and features
For 2015 model year, Dodge is also introducing a number of product enhancements, new packages and new colors, including:

  • SRT – new accent stitching on the seats and instrument panel, Alcantara accents on the doors and instrument panel and ‘Viper’ badged aluminum sill plates
  • GT – new model with Nappa leather seats with Alcantara inserts, Alcantara accents on the doors and IP, ‘Viper’ badged aluminum sill plates, two-mode suspension, five-mode ESC, ‘GTS’ hood and two-piece StopTech slotted rotors
  • GTS Ceramic Blue Special Edition with an exclusive Ceramic Blue exterior color and Black stripes
  • TA 2.0 Special Edition with high-performance Aero Package
  • High-impact Y’Orange, Stryker Orange and Stryker Purple exterior colors – arriving to dealers in early 2015
Production of 2015 model year Vipers will begin at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit in the second half of the fourth quarter of 2014. Vipers will start arriving in dealerships in the first quarter of 2015.

Chrysler Canada: 2014 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Wins Vincentric Best Value in Canada Award

September 9, 2014 , Windsor, Ontario - The Ram Truck team not only strives to build the best trucks in the industry, but also the pickups with the best value for their hard-working customers. That is a fact reinforced today with the 2014 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty pickup winning a Vincentric Best Value in Canada award.

Vincentric is a highly-regarded company with 10 years of experience in the business of automotive industry data analysis. This is the third year of its Best Value in Canada awards. To pick its ‘Best Value in Class,’ Vincentric fastidiously scrutinizes objective data on vehicles in each segment of the market, factoring in everything from the cost of insurance and repair, to fuel consumption, maintenance and depreciation.

“Once Vincentric crunched the numbers for the full-size ¾-ton heavy duty pickup truck segment, the 2014 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty was the pickup that scored furthest below the expected ownership costs,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO, Chrysler Canada. “We are excited to share those results because we recognize that a low cost of ownership is as important to our demanding Ram customers as our reputation for having the longest-lasting full line of pickup trucks in Canada.”

David Wurster, President of Vincentric, said: “The Ram 2500 earned the Vincentric Best Value in Canada award by delivering best-in-class performance when we measured total cost of ownership and compared it to expected results for the 2500 and its competitors. Contributing to its success was its class-leading insurance costs, maintenance costs, and retained value percentage over five years.”

2015 Ram EcoDiesel pumps up passion for fuel economy

2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4x4 EcoDiesel

Can you really have your cake and eat it, too?

In a red-hot truck market, with fuel prices in a constant ‘up one day and down the next’ cycle, 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDieselbuyers know they can count on at least two things: best-in-class 28 mpg and much less time and money parked at the pump.

For truck buyers, that ‘double dose’ of fuel economy and capability has often been more of a dream than an option. The 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel pickup changed all that – rolling diesel-powered capability and segment-leading fuel economy into a ‘sweet’ package of peak performance.

Class-exclusive air suspension, TorqueFlight 8-speed transmission, best-in-class aerodynamics and first-in-segment Fuel Saver Technology helped raised the fuel economy bar and push the 1500 EcoDiesel to number one of the top two fuel economy spots. Another Ram 1500 fuel-sipper, the 25 mpg 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 owns the number two spot.

Pick-up buyers registered their hunger for Ram Trucks again last month with a double-digit sales increase for the Ram half-ton pickup segment of 31 percent.

So, looks like you can have your cake and eat it, too! Oh, and what’s a cake without frosting? The 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel packs a punch on the towing end at 9,200 pounds!

All-new 2015 Chrysler 200 Earns Five-Star Overall Safety Rating From U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

0
0

October 23, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Five stars is the highest possible safety rating given by NHTSA.

The Chrysler brand’s all-new midsize sedan scored five stars in NHTSA tests that evaluate performance in:

  • Frontal collisions
  • Side-impacts simulating a two-vehicle collision
  • Side-impacts simulating a single-vehicle collision with a pole

These latest test results complement the Top Safety Pick+ rating previously given to the 2015 Chrysler 200 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

“The Chrysler 200’s superior performance in such safety tests validates our continuing efforts to deliver the latest advancements in both passive and active safety technologies,” says Scott Kunselman, Chrysler Group’s Senior Vice President and Head of Vehicle Safety and Regulatory Compliance.

Passive safety systems help mitigate the effects of a crash; active systems help drivers prevent crashes.

“The 200’s robust construction helps absorb energy in the event of a collision,” Kunselman says. “This benefits occupant protection.”

Approximately 65 percent of the all-new Chrysler 200’s body structure consists of hot-stamped, high-strength, advanced high-strength and boron steels. Such construction helps maintain the vehicle’s integrity during collisions.

“The 200’s active-safety equipment shatters the barrier that once restricted advanced driver-assist systems to expensive luxury-brand vehicles,” Kunselman adds.

Among the active safety systems available on the 2015 Chrysler 200 is Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus. It combines camera and radar technologies, which is a first for a mainstream-brand mid-size sedan.

Such redundancy affords greater object-detection precision. Similar systems on competitive vehicles feature one technology or the other.

Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus provides alerts, autonomous braking and, under certain circumstances, slows or brings the all-new Chrysler 200 to a full stop when a frontal collision appears imminent.

NHTSA’s safety ratings web page awards special designations to vehicles equipped with active safety systems, though the systems do not factor into the ratings. Collision-warning systems are a prerequisite to achieve IIHS Top Safety Pick+ status.

The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 boasts 60 safety and security features – the most in its class. Among these is the segment-exclusive Electronic Park Brake (EPB) with SafeHold.

Offered as standard equipment, EPB with SafeHold automatically activates the 200’s parking brake if the driver’s seatbelt is unlatched and his or her door is opened while forward or reverse gears are engaged. This feature is designed to prevent rollaway situations.

Jeep® Wrangler, Mopar’s Most Accessorized Vehicle, Recognized as SEMA’s ‘Hottest 4×4-SUV’ for Fifth Consecutive Year

November 4, 2014 , Las Vegas - For a fifth consecutive year, the Jeep® Wrangler, Mopar’s most accessorized vehicle, has been recognized as the “Hottest 4×4-SUV” at the 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The SEMA Award recognizes vehicle models that specialty equipment manufacturers believe are the best platforms for accessorization in order to showcase the year’s coolest products.

The winning selection was determined with a survey of vehicles displayed by participating SEMA exhibitors on the convention floor. That simple metric helps identify an emerging trend as SEMA Show exhibitors choose to channel their investments into the cars they consider the top enthusiast prospects for the coming year, helping to drive the direction of an industry that generates $33 billion per year in the United States alone.

SEMA President and CEO, Chris Kersting presented the award to Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO—Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care, at the SEMA Media breakfast.

“Data indicate that the availability of a wide range of accessories has a strong influence on new-car sales,” said Kersting. “By winning yet another SEMA Award for Hottest 4×4-SUV, the Jeep Wrangler reinforces its position as the off road vehicle best suited to reflect consumer’s individuality.”

“The Jeep Wrangler is our most accessorized vehicle and to have it awarded for a fifth consecutive year at SEMA demonstrates its popularity due to the quality of the vehicle along with that of the performance parts and accessories Mopar has developed for it,” Gorlier said. “It’s wonderful to see it keep winning accolades and reinforce the efforts we’ve made to keep adding quality Jeep Performance Parts to more than the 300 we already have available for this vehicle in order to provide even more options for personalization.”

“It’s a tremendous honor that Jeep Wrangler has once again been named the “Hottest 4×4-SUV” at the SEMA Show,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand. “Jeep Wrangler owners are the ultimate enthusiasts, and have always loved modifying their vehicles.  Offering a unique, classic design and unmatched capability, Wrangler is the perfect platform for them to do so.”

The Jeep Performance Parts portfolio, created and offered by Mopar and Jeep, offers high-end, hard-core quality Jeep parts including axles, lift kits, bumpers, winches, skid plates and suspension components. These performance parts offer factory-engineered solutions to increase off-road performance.

The following are the among the newest Mopar parts and accessories available for the Jeep Wrangler:

Jeep Performance Parts 2-inch Lift Kit for Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Performance Parts 2-inch lift kit gives greater ground clearance and approach and departure angles to get over the tough obstacles on the trail.  This new factory-engineered kit contains shocks and springs that are specifically tuned to the vehicle weight for better on-road handling.  The new kit includes a high strength driveshaft for 2012 to 2015 model years. This driveshaft provides better articulation than other solutions in the aftermarket. The new kit uses durable production sway bar links, and component corrosion protection is equal to production vehicle standards. The kit also comes with a fun plywood packaging crate that fits in a two-door Jeep Wrangler, and can easily be reused for a coffee table or handy storage crate.

Jeep Performance Parts Heavy Duty 44 Series Rubicon Front Axle Housing
The Heavy Duty Dana 44 Rubicon front axle housing is a direct bolt in replacement for the production housing and features heavier wall axle tubes for greater strength than what a stock housing might offer. This is particularly beneficial to Jeep Wrangler owners that love to work their rides a little harder when they go off-road or have a heavy bumper with a winch mounted.

Jeep Performance Parts Front and Rear Axle Mounting Bracket Packages
Jeep Wrangler owners who prefer to fabricate and install their own axles now can buy the axle mounting brackets in one inexpensive kit. Each kit includes upper and lower control arm mounts, spring mounts and track bar mounts.

Jeep Custom Hood Decal
Owners can personalize the hoods of their Jeep Wrangler with pre-configured map decals of popular trails or by using an online customizable tool create their own topographical or street map graphics. Jeep custom hood decals are designed to exactly fit specific hood dimensions of 2007–2015 Jeep Wranglers. Durably produced with premium 3M films, the decals measure up to Mopar’s engineering quality standards for superior graphic performance and include a three-year warranty to guard against fading or manufacturer defect.

At the front of the new 2015 Chrysler 300, a redesigned fascia features a more sculptured surface, taller more prominent grille with a unique dimensional texture and chrome grille surround. The grille contains the Chrysler wing badge, which appears to float within the dramatic grille texture and highlights the new “face of Chrysler.” Nestled below the upper grille is an elegantly drawn chrome Mobius strip, which outlines the lower grille opening and extends outward, surrounding the new optional LED fog lamps. A high beltline stays true to the Chrysler 300 sedan’s signature proportion, while its elegantly tailored chrome side window surrounds and available chrome mirrors hint at the luxurious interior within. Seven new wheel designs, ranging from 17 inches to wider and wheel-well-filling 20 inches, provide the new 2015 Chrysler 300 with a planted, road-holding look.

Finishing the new Chrysler 300 sedan’s powerful rear stance is a new sculpted LED taillamp with an illuminated halo, providing a unique signature appearance. A restyled rear fascia has a more fluid surface and features a tailored chrome fascia trim accent. Below, a new lower valance in black provides visual width and lightens the appearance of the sedan. Last, a pair of elegantly drawn, polished exhaust tips are placed in the corners to give the Chrysler 300 an upscale athletic appearance.
