The result is an efficient vehicle created to attract youthful and adventurous customers around the world to the Jeep brand.
“The all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade expands the brand’s product portfolio and targets the rapidly expanding small SUV segment around the globe with benchmark levels of  efficiency and driving dynamics, while at the same time delivering best-in-class 4×4 capability that customers expect from Jeep,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO — Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC.  “Renegade symbolizes the brand’s renowned American design, ingenuity and innovation, marking the Jeep brand’s first entry into the small SUV segment in more than 100 markets around the globe.”

Best-in-class off-road capability thanks to two all-new 4×4 systems
Leveraging 4×4 technology from the all-new Jeep Cherokee, the all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade offers two of the most advanced and intelligent 4×4 systems in its class, all to deliver best-in-class off-road capability. Both systems can provide up to 100 percent of the engine’s available torque to the ground, through any wheel, for optimal grip.

  • Jeep Active Drive – full-time 4×4 system
  • Jeep Active Drive Low – class-exclusive full-time 4×4 system with 20:1 crawl ratio.

Innovation is also at the forefront of any new Jeep vehicle, and the Renegade is the first small SUV to feature a disconnecting rear axle and power take-off unit (PTU) – all to provide Jeep Renegade 4×4 models with enhanced fuel economy. The system instantly engages when 4×4 traction is needed.

Both Jeep Active Drive and Active Drive Low 4×4 systems include the Jeep Selec-Terrain system, providing up to five modes (Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud modes, plus exclusive Rock mode on the Trailhawk model) for the best four-wheel-drive performance on- or off-road and in any weather condition.

Trail Rated: Renegade Trailhawk 4×4 model
For customers who demand the most off-road capability from their Jeep vehicles, the Renegade Trailhawk model delivers best-in-class Trail Rated 4×4 capability with:

  • Standard Jeep Active Drive Low (20:1 crawl ratio)
  • Selec-Terrain system with exclusive Rock mode
  • Increased ride height 20 mm (0.8 inches)
  • Skid plates, and red front and rear tow hooks
  • Unique fascias deliver 30.5 degree approach, 25.7 degree breakover and 34.3 degree departure angles
  • 17-inch all-terrain tires
  • Up to 205 mm (8.1 inches) of wheel articulation
  • Hill-descent Control
  • Up to 480 mm (19 inches) of water fording
  • Up to 1,500 kg (3,300-lb.) towing capability with MultiJet II diesel engine and 907 kg (2,000-lb.) towing capability with 2.4-liter Tigershark engine, with available tow package

A global Jeep design for a rapidly growing global brand
From the start, Jeep designers knew the Renegade would need to deliver best-in-class off-road capability with city-sized proportions that exuded the brand’s rugged style while at the same time enhancing versatility, maneuverability and style. Additionally designers were tasked to create an all-new SUV that would symbolize the brand’s renowned American design and ingenuity, as it would mark the Jeep brand’s first entry into the small SUV segment in more than 100 markets around the globe. Last, Renegade had to offer the open-air freedom that dates back to its 1941 roots with the Willys MB Jeep.

The result is the all-new 2015 Renegade, a vehicle that builds on the Jeep Wrangler’s powerful stance, and features fresh new styling with rugged body forms and aggressive proportions that enable best-in-class approach and departure angles purposely designed to deliver best-in-class off-road capability. And for segment-exclusive panoramic views, two available My Sky open-air roof panel systems conveniently stow to provide passengers open-air freedom with ease.

All-new interior exudes a rugged and energetic appearance
The all-new Jeep Renegade interior features a rugged and energetic appearance that builds upon Jeep’s legendary brand heritage. Its precisely crafted detail, innovative and high-quality color and material appointments, state-of-the-art technology, and clever storage features draw inspiration from contemporary extreme sports gear and lifestyles.

The interior of the all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade has a distinctive form language which Jeep designers have titled “Tek-Tonic.” This new design theme is defined by the intersections of soft and tactile forms with rugged and functional details. Major surfaces such as the sculpted soft-touch instrument panel are intersected with bold functional elements like the passenger grab handle – indispensable for off-road adventures and borrowed from its big brother, the legendary Jeep Wrangler. Unique “protective clamp fasteners,” anodized design accents and inspired colors are derived from extreme sports equipment, while the newly familiar “X” shapes inspired by its roof and tail lamps add to Renegade’s Tek-Tonic interior look. And to make sure all of the needed passenger gear fits, the Renegade is designed with an efficient and flexible interior package that includes a removable, reversible and height-adjustable cargo floor panel and fold-forward front-passenger seat.

My Sky: continuing Jeep open-air freedom since 1941
Keeping the tradition of the legendary 1941 Willys MB Jeep, the all-new 2015 Renegade offers open-air freedom with two available My Sky open-air roof systems. With a manual removable, or removable with premium power tilt/slide feature, the segment-exclusive My Sky roof-panel systems quickly bring the outdoors inside. Designed for convenience, the honeycomb fiberglass polyurethane roof panels are lightweight and stow neatly in the rear cargo area. For added design detail, both My Sky roof systems feature a debossed “X” stamped into the roof that exude strength and play on the brand’s utilitarian history.

Best-in-class off-road capability with world-class on-road driving dynamics
Designed and engineered to first and foremost deliver legendary Jeep 4×4 capability, the all-new 2015 Renegade is the first small SUV from Chrysler Group to use the all-new “small-wide 4×4 architecture.”

With its fully independent suspension capable of up to 205 mm (8.1 inches) of wheel articulation and 220 mm (8.7 inches) of ground clearance (Trailhawk), Renegade raises the bar in the small SUV segment with best-in-class off-road capability. Extensive use of advanced steels, composites and advanced computer-impact simulations enable the all-new 2015 Renegade’s architecture to deliver world-class torsional stiffness and Jeep brand’s durability required for Trail Rated adventures.

The all-new Renegade is the first Jeep to integrate Koni’s frequency selective damping (FSD) front and rear strut system. This damping system enables the Jeep Renegade to deliver world-class road-holding and handling characteristics.

Designed for global markets: 16 powertrain combinations
True to the Jeep brand, the all-new Renegade will offer customers in global markets maximum off-road capability and fuel efficiency. The Renegade will offer up to 16 strategic powertrain combinations – the most ever in a Jeep vehicle – customized to markets around the world to meet a range of performance and efficiency needs. Powertrain options include:

  • Four MultiAir gasoline engine offerings
  • Two MultiJet II diesel engine offerings
  • Efficient and flex-fuel capable E.torQ engine
  • Emissions and fuel-saving Stop&Start technology
  • Segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission
  • Two manual and one dual-dry clutch transmission (DDCT) offerings

World’s first small SUV with nine-speed automatic transmission
Like the new Jeep Cherokee, the all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade has raised the bar — this time in the small SUV class — with the first available nine-speed automatic transmission. When paired with either the 2.0-liter MultiJet II diesel engine, or 2.4-liter MultiAir2 gas engine, the nine-speed transmission delivers numerous benefits customers will appreciate, including aggressive launches, smooth power delivery at highway speeds and improved fuel efficiency versus a six-speed automatic transmission.

Segment-exclusive technologies once found only on higher classed SUVs
The all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade offers technology features once found only in upper-segment vehicles, and makes them attainable to customers in the growing small SUV segment – including award-winning Uconnect Access, Uconnect touchscreens and the segment’s largest full-color instrument cluster.

  • Uconnect Access: Utilizes embedded cellular technology to allow Jeep Renegade occupants to get directly in contact with local emergency-service dispatchers – all with the push of the 9-1-1 Assist button on the rearview mirror. Uconnect Access applies the same logic to roadside assistance. One push of the “ASSIST” button summons help directly from Chrysler Group’s roadside assistance provider, or the Vehicle Customer Care Center. Further peace of mind comes from the system’s ability to receive text messages, announce receipt of texts, identify senders and then “read” the messages aloud with Bluetooth-equipped cell phones. AOL Autos named Uconnect Access its “Technology of the Year for 2013.” (Uconnect services may vary in different markets)
  • Uconnect touchscreen radio systems: Award-winning in-vehicle handsfree communication, entertainment and available navigation. Key features available on the Uconnect 5.0 and 6.5AN systems include a 5.0-inch or 6.5-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity, single or dual-turner, radio data system capability (RDS), digital audio broadcast (DAB), HD Radio, digital media broadcasting (DMB), SiriusXM Radio, SiriusXM Travel Link, SiriusXM Travel Link, USB port and auxiliary audio jack input. (Uconnect services may vary in different markets)
  • Segment’s largest full-color instrument cluster display: Filling the Jeep Renegade’s gauge cluster in front of the driver is an available 7-inch, full-color, premium multiview display, featuring a reconfigurable function that enables drivers to personalize information inside the instrument cluster. The information display is designed to visually communicate information, using graphics and text, quickly and easily.

Renegade features up to 70 advanced safety and security features
Safety and security were at the forefront in the development of the all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade, setting the stage for up to 70 available safety and security features – including the availability of Forward Collision Warning-Plus and LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus.

In addition, engineers added both active and passive safety and security features, including Blind-spot Monitoring; Rear Cross Path detection; ParkView rear backup camera with dynamic grid lines; electronic stability control (ESC) with electronic roll mitigation and seven standard air bags.

March 3, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The 2014 Dodge Dart has been named a “Best Bet” in the compact car category of this year’s edition of The Car Book.

It is the second consecutive year the Dart has been so honored.

The recognition is based on an analysis of wide-ranging information collected from government and independent sources. The analysis is conducted by The Car Book and the Center for Auto Safety and considers crash test results, safety features, rollover rating, preventative maintenance schedules, repair costs, warranty coverage, fuel economy, complaint data and insurance costs.

The 2014 Dodge Dart achieved an overall score of “9.” The highest possible score is “10.”

“The Car Book’s recognition of the Dart as a ‘Best Bet’ for two years running confirms what our customers are telling us,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO–Dodge Brand. “The Dodge Dart has unique combination of distinctive styling, fun-to-drive performance, up to 41 mpg, segment-leading safety features, and easy-to-use technology, all combined, making it a tremendous value.”

The 2014 Dodge Dart scored “9” for having low repair costs, and “8” in the key categories of warranty coverage, rollover rating, fuel economy and crash tests.

The 2014 Dart recently was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The car also boasts a 5-star rating – the highest possible assessment – in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s crash-testing program.

The Dodge Dart also tops the compact car segment in total quality, according to Strategic Vision Total Quality Index

The Dart’s performance is enhanced by more than 60 available safety and security features. The list includes 10 standard-equipment air bags, a total unsurpassed in the compact-car segment.

The 2014 Dodge Dart further benefits from a high-strength-steel content-ratio of 68 percent, one of the highest in the industry.

Equipped with a 1.4-liter turbocharged, intercooled I-4 engine with MultiAir electro-hydraulic valve-actuation and six-speed manual transmission, the Dart also earns a highway fuel-economy rating of 41 miles per gallon (mpg).

“We appreciate the fact that Dodge has made a significant contribution to improving the market choices for the American car buyer,” says The Car Book’s Jack Gillis. “The fact that your vehicles have the quality and features most important to today’s car buyer is a testament to your desire to meet customer needs.”

Being named a “Best Bet” in The Car Book is the latest accolade bestowed on the Dodge Dart. Its celebrated Uconnect hands-free navigation and communication technology earned 2014 Connected Car of the Year honors from Connected World Magazine.

The award was given in the small car category. The Dodge Dart is considered a small car, but its total interior volume of 97.2 cu. ft. (2.75 cu m) rivals that of mid-size cars, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency classifications.

Strategic Vision also recently listed the 2014 Dart among its “Most Loved Vehicles in America.” Ratings are based on calculations that consider vehicle attributes and performance, and customer attitude.

The New Fiat 500 1957 Edition Arriving Soon in FIAT Studios

March 7, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Italian car and design fans looking for a taste of the historic Cinquecento won’t have to wait much longer. Today the FIAT brand opened orders for the 2014 Fiat 500 1957 Edition, arriving in FIAT studios nationwide in late spring. Pricing for this well-equipped limited-production model starts at $20,400 U.S. MSRP, just $1,900 more than a base Fiat 500 Lounge.

“Combining iconic Italian design and vintage styling with modern European technology, the 2014 Fiat 500 1957 Edition is inspired by the spirit of the original 1957 Nuova 500 and offers customers the opportunity to own and drive a vehicle that celebrates Italian automotive history,” said Jason Stoicevich, Head of FIAT Brand for North America, Chrysler Group LLC.

The Fiat 500 1957 Edition includes a sport-tuned suspension for improved handling, 16” forged aluminum wheels with a retro body color design, throwback “FIAT” badging and a premium Marrone (brown) and Avorio (ivory) leather interior.

The model is available in three classic exterior colors: Bianco (white), Verde Chiaro (light green) and exclusive Celeste (celestial blue). For a two-tone look, Verde Chiaro and Celeste exteriors are paired with a signature Bianco painted roof and mirror caps.

About the 2014 Fiat 500 1957 Edition
There’s a romance about Italian cars, brands, fashion and design that make goods from this artisan nation among the most coveted around the globe. Since 1957, the Fiat 500 has embodied all four, empowering the Cinquecento to become one of the most iconic automobiles of all time. Fifty-seven years later, and with sales in more than 100 countries, the 2014 Fiat 500 1957 Edition commemorates its roots in uniquely crafted detail.

Based on the 2014 Fiat 500 Lounge model, the 1957 Edition enhances its iconic silhouette with a vintage look, thanks to classic exterior colors for this limited-edition Cinquecento, including Bianco (white), Verde Chiaro (light green) or Celeste (celestial blue). Inspired by the 1957 Fiat “Nuova” Cinquecento, an exclusive 16-inch retro wheel design features a wide chromed lip, body-color accent and large center cap with historic “FIAT” emblem. For improved handling, a sport-tuned suspension and all-season performance tires are standard. Completing the look are throwback “FIAT” badges on the front fascia and rear liftgate.

Continuing the 1957 Edition’s vintage look is an Avorio (ivory) interior environment contrasted by premium Marrone (brown) leather seats. Avorio accent stitching vertically crosses the seatbacks and seat cushions, while detailed stitching at the perimeter adds to the Cinquecento’s craftsmanship. For added contrast, Grigio (grey) door panels feature a unique Avorio inner panel, while Marrone door armrests and shift boot (with manual transmission) are color-keyed to the leather seats for a harmonious look. An exclusive Avorio leather-wrapped steering wheel is hand-stitched with Marrone leather on the “inner ring,” and features a retro “FIAT” badge, illustrating how FIAT brand takes craftsmanship to heart. Adding to the historic theme is a uniquely styled key fob with Marrone casing and Avorio-painted “1957″ graphic. For driving enjoyment, the six-speaker and 276-watt FIAT premium audio system with SiriusXM Radio is also included.

The 2014 Fiat 500 1957 Edition features the innovative 1.4-liter MultiAir engine and C514 five-speed manual transmission, delivering an EPA estimated 31 miles per gallon (mpg) city and 40 mpg highway. Like all FIAT products, engaging dynamics are essential, and the 1957 Edition includes a driver-selectable “Sport” mode on the instrument panel to unleash a more aggressive throttle map. Additionally, an optional six-speed automatic transmission with driver-selectable gear changes is also available. In Sport mode, the automatic transmission offers a more aggressive shift schedule and throttle map for improved engine responsiveness.

Dodge Introduces New 2014 Dodge Journey SE V-6 All-Wheel-Drive, Delivering Best-in-class V-6 Power with AWD Capability at the Price of a Four-cylinder Mid-size Crossover

$

March 12, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - America’s most versatile mid-size crossover – the 2014 Dodge Journey with available seven-passenger seating — is upping its capability and value quotient by offering the Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine and all-wheel drive (AWD) on SE models for 2014, with a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $24,895 (excluding $995 destination). The Dodge Journey SE V-6 AWD makes all-wheel drive more accessible within the Journey lineup by $1,800 compared to the SXT model.

“The Dodge Journey set an all-time sales record in the United States in 2013,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO – Dodge Brand. “We want to build on that sales momentum, offering levels of performance – 283 best-in-class horsepower, 24 miles per gallon, all-weather capability – our competitors can’t touch at this price point.”

The Dodge Journey SE V-6 AWD is generously equipped with standard features such as 17-inch wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), seven airbags, 4.3-inch touchscreen Uconnect Media Center, Keyless Enter ‘n Go with push-button start, power windows, power door locks, power heated mirrors, remote keyless entry, tilt-and-telescoping steering column, cruise control, deep-tint sunscreen glass, black side roof rails and distinctive LED tail lamps.

The 2014 Dodge Journey SE V-6 AWD is arriving in U.S. dealerships now.

Pentastar V-6
The award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, now optional on Journey SE, SXT and Crossroad and standard on Limited and R/T models, produces a best-in-class 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque and is mated to a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission. In addition to excellent power, it delivers up to 24 mpg on the highway in AWD Journey models (25 mpg for front-wheel-drive models).

All-wheel drive delivers confidence in all-weather driving conditions
The 2014 Dodge Journey’s all-wheel drive system is perfect for drivers who want extra grip for a more performance feel, or who live in the Snow Belt or rainy parts of the country and appreciate the extra traction Journey’s all-wheel-drive system provides.

Journey’s all-wheel-drive system works on demand, driving only the front wheels until power to the rear wheels is needed to maximize fuel efficiency. All-wheel drive also is activated on dry pavement between speeds of 25 and 65 mph to enhance handling during performance driving. This system provides added traction on snow, ice and other low-traction surfaces without having to be switched on and off.

When traveling faster than 25 mph, Dodge Journey’s all-wheel-drive system sends torque to the rear wheels when cornering with the throttle open to make the car turn more easily, which makes the handling more neutral. This is more readily accomplished with Journey’s electronically controlled coupling (ECC) than with viscous-coupling or gerotor systems that require some degree of front-to-rear slip before torque is transferred to the rear wheels. At speeds greater than 53 mph, the control strategy provides minimal torque to the rear wheels under normal driving conditions to provide better fuel economy.

Dodge Journey features standard electronic stability control (ESC) and all-speed traction control, which help keep the crossover on path in a variety of road surface and weather conditions. Journey’s available all-wheel drive electronic control module works with the ESC and traction control systems, allowing the ESC system to use the ECC to help gain control of the vehicle, reducing the amount of torque that the ECC transmits to the rear wheels. Four-wheel anti-lock brakes and electronic-roll mitigation also are standard on all 2014 Dodge Journey models.

SRT Motorsports Race Report

March 16, 2014 , SEBRING, Fla. - The No. 93 SRT (Street and Racing Technology) Motorsports Viper GTS-R team, and drivers Jonathan Bomarito, Kuno Wittmer and Rob Bell, put together a perfect race in Saturday’s Mobil 1 62nd annual 12 Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida to score a second-place finish that was just one unlucky break away from a victory.

The No. 93 joined the sister SRT Motorsports No. 91 No. 91 Viper GTS-R  team in taking turns leading the GTLM class in the half-day race on the classic 3.74-mile road course. Dominik Farnbacher, who teamed with fulltime co-driver Marc Goossens and IndyCar Champion Ryan Hunter-Reay, twice led in the No. 91 and joined his co-drivers for a seventh-place finish.  All three No. 93 drivers led at various points in the race, including Bomarito in the race’s final hour.

It appeared Bomarito had the pace to hold off the competition but the 11th and final caution of the race 50 minutes from the finish sent the No. 93 and most of the competition to the pits for the last time. That gave the edge to the No. 912 Porsche that had been running second to the No. 93 only to pit under green just before the yellow flag flew. When the race went green again, the Porsche’s lucky break gave it enough track position to hold off a fast closing Bomarito. Despite knocking off almost a second a lap on the gap to the Porsche, not enough time remained on the clock for Team SRT to get back to the front.

The runner-up result was the best of the year for SRT Motorsports in the two-race old 2014 IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season. Goossens, Farnbacher and Hunter-Reay also visited the podium in the No. 91 in the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona in January with a third-place showing.

The No. 91 matched the pace of the No. 93 at Sebring but Hunter-Reay spun in Turn 17 early in the second half of the race and backed into the tire wall. The SRT Motorsports crew repaired the Viper and got it back in the race but the team and drivers only had enough time left to recover two of the four laps lost in the delay.

The No. 91 did have reason to celebrate at the end of the race’s fourth hour, however, when the team led the first of the race’s three segments in the IMSA Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup GTLM standings. With Farnbacher at the wheel, the No. 91 was leading at the four-hour mark and earned some valuable points in the first Patrón Endurance Cup segment.

Retiring from competition with Johnson’s win at the last NHRA event in Phoenix, the four-door Dodge Avenger ends its run as the most successful of Mopar racecars in its class after claiming a total of 27 NHRA national titles and a record 28 No.1-qualifier positions, in addition to consecutive championships in 2012 and 2013.

Two Dodge Dart cars will make their competition debut at this weekend’s prestigious national event with defending title holder Johnson and five- time Pro Stock Champion Coughlin at the controls, while Vieri Gaines will join the fray in a few weeks upon completion of his new HEMI-powered racecar.

“We are very excited to launch the Dodge Dart, and along with our Mopar fans, to see what Allen (Johnson) and Jeg (Coughlin Jr.) can accomplish with this new vehicle as they vie for a third championship in the high-performance and ultra-competitive Pro Stock division,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “The new Dart is a testament of how Mopar uses the motorsports program as a technological proving ground with Chrysler’s own leading-edge technology and production processes. We have great expectations for its on-track success.

“Mopar also is very pleased to extend our partnership with Magneti Marelli to include primary sponsorship of Allen’s new Pro Stock in order to continue to raise awareness for our brands and quality products while bolstering our collective support and commitment to NHRA drag racing.”

Johnson’s HEMI- powered Dodge Dart will carry the “Magneti Marelli Quality Auto Parts Offered by Mopar” sponsorship as an extension of Mopar’s partnership with Magneti Marelli. Their racing alliance was initiated in 2012 and developed into a primary sponsorship the following year, sharing in Don Schumacher Racing driver Matt Hagan’s successful runner-up championship season.

“We at Magneti Marelli are very enthusiastic to be the main sponsor of Allen Johnson’s new Dodge Dart NHRA Pro Stock car and team for 2014,” said Pietro Berardi, CEO Magneti Marelli Aftermarket. “We have co-sponsored Allen for two years now and he has proven to be a great asset for our company with his excellent performance of becoming 2012 Pro Stock World Champion and coming close again in 2013 with the second place in the overall championship. Also this year, Allen is off to a great start already with a win in Phoenix under his belt for 2014.

“Allen and his entire team are very gracious with our customers who are always excited to meet the racing legends of Pro Stock racing,” Berardi added. “It is great that the new vehicle will be revealed at the Gatornationals as this is where Magneti Marelli started its very first NHRA involvement in 2012 and Allen has proven to be a great brand builder for Magneti Marelli with the target customer group of racing enthusiasts and independent repair facility workers. We are hoping and wishing for a very successful 2014 season for Allen and his team.”

The partnership between Mopar and Magneti Marelli first came to fruition in April 2011, combining Mopar’s more than 75 years of U.S. automotive parts and service prowess with Magneti Marelli’s 95 years of international automotive parts experience to create an automotive parts giant that provides quality parts for all major make and model vehicles.

The “all makes” parts program for the North American aftermarket gives the Chrysler Group dealership network the ability to service competitive make and model vehicles with high-quality parts at an exceptional value, creating one-stop service and parts shops for customers.

As part of the year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the GEN II 426 Race HEMI, Mopar also revealed a special paint scheme on DSR Matt Hagan Dodge Charger R/T that includes a tribute to the HEMI “Elephant”, a nickname given to the legendary power plant. The new look will make its competition premier in July for the NHRA Mopar Mile High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo., outside of Denver.

Design
Inspired American design and beautifully crafted inside and out, the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 transforms what customers expect in a mid-size sedan. The 2015 200 sedan showcases the new face of Chrysler, and incorporates timeless design cues that let the car tell the story.

Clean, expressive surfaces define the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200; it’s a timeless American design based on simple elegance. The 200 sedan, with its muscular yet soulful presence, embodies a strong, sculptured exterior that drivers will want to touch and feel. The restrained design is not ornamental or full of line work instead it showcases sensual lines and fluid surfaces, which highlight the coupe-like appearance.

The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 debuts the new “face of Chrysler.” The grille and headlamps are integrated for the first time and the updated Chrysler badge has an emphasis on the wing, which is more defined. The signature light pipe or available full-LED daytime running lamps (DRL), LED fog lamps and standard LED tail lamps give the all-new Chrysler 200 a distinctive, recognizable look coming and going.

The Chrysler 200S model delivers an exclusive style – darker, more sinister – not found on other models in the lineup, or in the mid-size sedan segment. The 2015 Chrysler 200S model features gloss black trim and accent pieces rather than the standard bright trim. The exclusive design of the daylight opening (DLO) trim, the area surrounding the side windows, is gloss black – the 2015 Chrysler 200 is the only vehicle in the segment with this feature. Integrated dual exhausts are standard and the available 19-inch Hyper Black aluminum wheels complete the look. The more sinister appearance of the 2015 200S model complements the sportier driving experience the S model delivers.

The interior of the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan provides the “wow” factor. Exquisitely crafted with high-quality materials and attention to detail, the 2015 200 sedan’s interior is inviting and comfortable and rewards drivers and passengers on commutes as well as longer journeys.

Using four key principles – an emotional design impact, use of high-quality materials with honest material execution, state-of-the-art technology and clever storage features – and inspired by classic, thoughtful American design, the interior of the all-new 200 sedan is unequaled in the segment.
The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan features interior trim and materials that are well-crafted, pleasing to the eye, soft to the touch and comprised of high-quality materials. Attention to detail is paramount and attractive components offer world-class levels of fit and finish.

The striking interior color and trim combinations were inspired by celebrated American locations, such as 5th Avenue in New York City, Sausalito, California and Detroit.

A clever design for the center console, made possible by the state-of-the-art full electronic gear shifting with rotary shift knob, is beautiful as well as functional. A unique pass-through storage feature that the driver and front-seat passenger can both access is enabled by the rotary-dial electronic shifting, a segment first. A clever opening at the rear of the pass-through area allows wires and cables from items stored in the pass-through area to route directly to the hidden power supply located in the covered center console. The center console features innovative sliding cup holders with smooth, furniture-like movement, allowing drivers and passengers to use the space in a way that best fits their needs.

The all-new Chrysler 200 is loaded with state-of-the-art, high-tech features and amenities that will surprise and delight customers. The available 7-inch LED full-color instrument cluster allows drivers to receive information and feedback in the format they prefer, similar to an iPhone. A glowing bezel surrounding the instrument cluster gives off a distinctive, pleasing blue glow. The available screens show information such as real-time fuel economy, turn-by-turn navigation, compass, outside temperature, speed, time and other useful information. The display is easy to use and easy-to-read, which allows drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

The 2015 Chrysler 200 features the available award-winning Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen multimedia command center. It is attractive, intuitive and easy to use. Uconnect Access keeps drivers and passengers connected with helpful information such as fuel prices and movie listings. Voice-activated navigation, handsfree voice command and voice-to-text are some of the available features that allow drivers to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

Attention to detail is prevalent throughout the all-new Chrysler 200, as no space was overlooked. Surprising details include a rendering of the City of Detroit skyline embossed on the rubber mat in the bottom of the pass-through storage of the center console.
MultiAir Turbo
Engineering
Exquisite style meets exceptional performance. The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan leapfrogs expectations in the mid-size sedan segment for comfort, ride and handling. Engineered to provide premium driving dynamics, improved fuel economy estimated at 35 mpg highway, a quiet cabin and an enthusiastic driving experience, the all-new Chrysler 200 delivers exceptional ride and handling characteristics for all roads and weather conditions.

A segment-first standard nine-speed automatic transmission and world-class engines, including the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine with a best-in-class 295 horsepower, add up to an enjoyable, spirited driving experience in the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200. An available, innovative, state-of-the-art all-wheel-drive system includes a “sport” driving mode and delivers excellent performance in all driving conditions. With a world-class architecture and leading-edge technology, the new Chrysler 200 is engineered to exceed customer expectations in every category.

The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is the world’s first mid-size sedan to feature a nine-speed automatic transmission, which comes standard. The benefits of the advanced-technology transmission are numerous, including an estimated highway fuel economy of 35 mpg when powered by the 2.4-liter MultiAir®2 Tigershark I-4 engine. The addition of more gear ratios reduces the frequency of speed changes associated with upshifting and downshifting – fluctuations that thwart fuel savings and undermine the driving experience. The high-tech transmission dispenses power smoothly for elevated refinement. Such performance is made possible because the ratio steps between its gears are smaller than those of other transmissions.

Two world-class engine choices power the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan. The proven, award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 generates a best-in-class 295 horsepower as well as 262 lb.-ft. of torque.

The new Tigershark 2.4-liter MultiAir2 four-cylinder engine produces 184 horsepower, 173 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers excellent estimated fuel economy of 35 mpg highway. The new standard Tigershark engine, that powers the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200, delivers fuel economy improvements of 13 percent, horsepower improvements of 6 percent and torque improvements of 10 percent compared with the outgoing four-cylinder engine.

A new available sport mode in the 2015 200 provides a spirited driving experience by modulating steering, throttle and shifting inputs, electronic stability control, Adaptive Cruise Control Plus and all-wheel drive for a driving experience customers will look forward to. The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is the first Chrysler Group mid-size vehicle to offer paddle shifters, enhancing the driving experience for the driver who wants to experience all the car has to offer.

The 2015 Chrysler 200 offers an available best-in-class all-wheel-drive system, which features a segment-first fully disconnecting rear axle that improves fuel economy by operating in front-wheel drive when all-wheel drive is not needed. The all-wheel-drive system features a one-speed power transfer unit (PTU) and uniquely disconnects and reconnects the rear axle – automatically and seamlessly – as needed and at any speed.  The disconnecting rear axle disconnects at both the PTU and rear drive module, which improves fuel economy by reducing parasitic loss when all-wheel drive is not needed.

Owners of the new Chrysler 200 will appreciate an innovative rotary e-shift dial that replaces the traditional console shifter. The rotary e-shift enables intuitive operation with a direct and confident feel. The convenient, center-mounted, easy-to-operate system provides total control of the sophisticated nine-speed transmission. This new design allows easy shifting and also yields space for more functional and usable storage in the center console.

The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is the first mid-size sedan to utilize Chrysler Group’s Compact U.S.-wide (CUS-wide) platform, the basis for smooth on-road performance. The new body structure, including laser-brazed roof welds, delivers increased torsional stiffness, resulting in a more connected driving experience.
The 2015 Chrysler 200’s chassis was engineered to deliver sporty European handling dynamics and steering precision with ride and comfort characteristics tuned for North American roads, resulting in excellent handling for the driver with maximum comfort for both the driver and passengers.

The exceptional balance of fun-to-drive dynamics, ride comfort and emergency handling is accomplished through the suspension bushing tuning and the exceptional body structure, including the front aluminum cradle, rear upper/under body structure reinforcement and superior suspension attachment stiffness.

The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is the most aerodynamic vehicle in its class, aiding improved fuel economy, on-road dynamics, and reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). The quiet cabin is another positive factor in the superior driving experience.

Safety and Security
The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is a showcase of advanced safety and security technology, offering a comprehensive array of driver warning and assist systems and state-of-the-art occupant restraints. The 2015 200 offers the most available safety and security features in the segment with 60.
The new 2015 200 features multiple segment-exclusive features, which utilize sensing elements that leverage available ultrasonic, radar, camera and other technologies for a 360-degree view of the road. Segment-exclusive available features include:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus: under certain circumstances and without driver intervention, can bring the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 to full stop
  • Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus: a Chrysler Group first that provides autonomous braking and, under certain circumstances, slows or brings the vehicle to a full stop when a frontal collision appears imminent
  • ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist: uses ultrasonic sensors to guide the driver into parking spaces. The perpendicular park assist function is a segment first.

Also unique to the 2015 Chrysler 200 is the segment-exclusive standard electronic park brake with SafeHold, which secures the vehicle if the driver opens the door and unlatches the seat belt while forward or reverse gears are still engaged.

Other standard and available features include electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, ParkSense rear backup sensors, ParkView rear backup camera, blind-spot monitoring, Rear Cross Path Detection and LATCH child seat anchors. In addition, the all-new 200 is constructed with approximately 60 percent advanced-technology steel, which contributes to a strong safety cage and robust crashworthiness.

World Class Manufacturing
World Class Manufacturing principles and an improved, upgraded assembly plant set the stage for a world-class vehicle – the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan.

The Sterling Heights (Mich.) Assembly Plant (SHAP), home of the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200, is the beneficiary of a $1 billion investment including an all-new state-of-the art paint shop and a new fully robotic body shop.

The all-new 1,000,000-square-foot body shop features fully robotic assembly for exact fit and finish and enable precisely crafted features, like laser-brazed roof and trunk deck lid joints and consistent fits on every car.

The all-new paint shop features state-of-the art technologies that offer customers a beautiful palette of exterior colors from which to choose while reducing costs and the environmental impact of the paint operations. The180-degree “rotisserie” rotating carriers ensure the best sealant coverage of all seams in the vehicle. Lasers check that the sealant is applied properly and in the right locations.

Fully robotic paint booths, enable world-class paint coverage for each and every vehicle. SHAP utilizes a powder primer paint system for the 2015 Chrysler 200, which saves cost and reduces the impact to the environment by utilizing 97 percent of all powder. This is achieved by recirculation of the powder. The all-new paint shop is a “clean” facility, rivaling clean lab environments with dust and contamination control for a better quality paint. Attention to detail ensures consistent, high-quality paint for every 2015 Chrysler 200.

New paint technologies enable tri-coat paints for a selection of beautiful exterior finishes.

The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 competes in the mid-size sedan segment, one of the largest segments in North America, with more than 2 million sales annually. Roughly one of every six new vehicles sold in the United States is a mid-size sedan.

The 2015 Chrysler 200 is available in four different models in the United States and will arrive in volume in dealer showrooms in the second quarter, 2014. Customers can choose from the 2015 Chrysler 200 LX model, Chrysler Limited model, Chrysler 200S model and the premium Chrysler 200C.

Chrysler Canada – 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Sets New Fuel-Economy Benchmark of 7.1 L/100 (40 MPG)

February 4, 2014 , Windsor, Ontario - The EcoDiesel-powered 2014 Ram 1500 has earned a 7.1 L/100 km (40 mpg) EnerGuide fuel economy rating, the best highway fuel economy rating ever achieved by a full-size, half-ton pickup.

Not only does the 2014 Ram EcoDiesel exceed the EnerGuide highway fuel economy rating for all ½ ton trucks, it also has better fuel economy than all mid-size trucks in Canada.

Factoring in the 2014 Ram 1500’s 10.2 L/100 km (28 mpg) city fuel economy rating, the all-new 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6 helps rewrite the full-size segment’s combined rating record books with 8.8 L/100 km (32 mpg).

These breakthrough ratings mean Ram EcoDiesel surpasses the half-ton fuel-economy record set last year by the 2013 Ram 1500.  Equipped with a 3.6-litre PentastarTM V6 gasoline engine, that truck achieved up to 7.8 L/100 km (36 mpg) highway, a rating that continues for model-year 2014.

The Ram 1500 now owns the half-ton pickup segment’s top two spots in the EnerGuide’s 2014 highway fuel-economy rankings.

“We are immensely gratified by achieving these milestones,” says Bob Lee, Chrysler Group’s Head of Engine, Powertrain and Electrified Propulsion Systems Engineering. “Not only do they confirm our position as an industry leader in powertrain development and truck design, they promise tremendous benefits for our customers.”

The EcoDiesel is the first and only advanced-technology turbo-diesel available in the half-ton pickup segment. In addition to superior fuel economy, it delivers peak torque of 420 lb.-ft., which is unsurpassed among full-size trucks equipped with V6 engines.

The all-new 3.0L EcoDiesel engine’s block and bedplate are made from lightweight Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI). Its performance is enhanced by the innovative MultiJet 2 common-rail fuel-injection system, which is exclusive in North America to Chrysler Group.

MultiJet 2’s high-dispersion nozzles and advanced-technology servovalve can accommodate up to eight fuel-injection events per cylinder cycle. This mitigates noise and improves low-speed throttle response, while also reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

Named one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines for 2014, the EcoDiesel V6 was a significant factor in the Ram 1500’s selection as the 2014 Motor Trend Truck of the Year, the first ever back-to-back winner, and helped Ram 1500 win the 2014 Truck King Challenge in Canada.

Chrysler Group’s segment-exclusive TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission further improves the Ram 1500’s fuel efficiency. While enabling optimal engine speed in a wide range of driving conditions, the advanced-technology gearbox benefits from a thermal-management system that quickly warms transmission oil to reduce pumping losses associated with cold, low-viscosity fluid.

The 2014 Ram 1500’s efficiencies are not restricted to powertrain technologies. Other key features include:

  • Active grille shutters that optimize air flow for improved aerodynamics
  • Electric Power Steering (EPS), which relieves the engine from constantly turning a hydraulic pump
  • Thoughtful material-use strategies that leverage lightweight aluminum for components – such as  hoods – that do not compromise capability

The 2014 Ram 1500 is backed with a five-year /100,000-km Powertrain Limited Warranty. The powertrain-limited warranty, which is transferrable, covers the cost of all parts and labour needed to repair a covered powertrain component – engine, transmission and drive system.

The standard three-year / 60,000-km Basic Limited Warranty provides bumper-to-bumper coverage for the Ram 1500.

The 2014 Ram 1500 is built at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant (Warren, Mich.), which has assembled more than 12.5 million trucks since it started operations in 1938. Regular Cab models of the 2014 Ram 1500 are built at the Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Saltillo, Mexico.

“Grand Cherokee continues to manage New England’s snow and ice with highly competent handling and traction, an excellent ride and a comfortable, tasteful interior, with proper cold-weather amenities,” Fitzgerald added. “Wherever it goes and whatever its assignment, the Jeep Grand Cherokee stands out in the crowded SUV and crossover segments.”

April 2, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - If you blinked, you missed it. The limited-edition Mopar ’14 Challenger, the latest Chrysler Group LLC vehicle to come straight from the factory already upgraded with Mopar products, has sold out in just the first day after being made available to dealers.

The Mopar ’14 Challenger is the most recent limited-edition vehicle offered by the brand, continuing the success of the Mopar ’10 Challenger, Mopar ’11 Charger, Mopar ’12 300 and Mopar ’13 Dart in demonstrating how owners can personalize their rides with Mopar products — even before driving away from the dealership. With only 100 built, the Mopar ’14 Challenger is the rarest limited-production Dodge Challenger offered to date.

“The very high demand for the Mopar ’14 Challenger spotlights the success of our limited-edition, Mopar-modified vehicles, and also clearly demonstrates the passion our customers have for personalizing their rides,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “Whether during or after the ordering process, Mopar is there to help put a personal touch on customers’ rides.”

“The Mopar ’14 Challenger shows that when combining a legendary car like the Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker and making it even more exclusive, we create collectible performance machines unlike anything else on the road,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO of Dodge Brand. “From the Mopar ’14 Challenger to the new Scat Pack performance stage kits available on Challenger, Charger and Dart, you can continue to expect great things when Dodge and Mopar team up.”

Many unique features contributed to the Mopar ’14 Challenger’s quick sellout, including two exterior color options and three Mopar Blue stripe options. A 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine also rumbles beneath the Satin Black Shaker hood scoop, while exterior design elements include 20 x 8-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels with Mopar center caps, a unique Black Vapor grille surround, a black fuel-filler door, a Satin Black deck-lid spoiler with Gloss Black “Mopar Design” badge and “Mopar” quarter-glass decals.

The interior is upgraded with premium leather seats featuring Mopar Blue accent thread and Mopar Omega M logos embroidered on the seat backs. Other unique touches for the limited-edition ride include a serialized instrument panel plaque, “Mopar” branded key fobs, a custom-crafted personalized owner’s kit with a Mopar ’14 brochure and much, much more.

Customers ordering the Mopar ’14 showed they still wanted the rarest limited production Dodge Challenger offered to date with additional customization.  Of the 100 orders placed on the first day, 52 customers chose the Pitch Black exterior paint version, while 48 opted for the newly offered Bright White option. The traditional Shaker stripe proved to be the most popular graphic chosen for their ride, followed by the bodyside decal and then the rocker stripe. Top Custom Shop options chosen were hood pins, Mopar Performance badges, quad exhaust tips and the Challenger monogrammed car cover. The top-ordered Mopar Performance part was the cat-back exhaust to complement the Shaker intake.

Although all 100 Mopar ’14 Challenger vehicles have been spoken for, enthusiasts can still build their own similarly personalized and unique, one-of-one Dodge Challenger.

Customers taking delivery of a new Dodge Challenger can have their ride personalized in a similar way to the sold out version right at their local dealership. Existing owners who have their own Challenger pride and joy at home also can have their vehicle updated with Mopar parts and accessories to make it similar to the sold out version.

Many of the up-fitted items for the Dodge Challenger are offered through Mopar’s vast catalog of parts and accessories available at Mopar.com or an authorized dealership. Among the products found on the Mopar ’14 that are available for customization are:

  • Mopar short-throw shifter
  • Mopar cat-back exhaust
  • Mopar performance suspension
  • Mopar lowering springs
  • Mopar Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS)

April 3, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Dodge owners who want to upgrade their vehicles with new Scat Pack performance stage kits, first unveiled by Dodge and Mopar last November at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, can do so with confidence that the vehicle warranty will remain unaffected.

In an industry-first for such high-level performance modifications offered by an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), the factory warranty will be maintained on 2014 Dodge Challenger and Charger vehicles modified with the Scat Pack 1, Scat Pack 2 and Scat Pack 3 performance stage kits with installation at an authorized dealer.

“The Scat Pack factory stage kits can help boost 5.7-liter HEMI performance up to an additional 58 horsepower and 47 lb.-ft. of torque, allowing Dodge enthusiasts to extract the maximum performance from their vehicles without the fear and guesswork typically associated with modifying late-model vehicles,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge Brand. “And now with a warranty guarantee, they can do so with the peace of mind that their manufacturer’s warranty remains intact.”

“The new Scat Pack kits reinforce our commitment to the performance arena,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “By maintaining the vehicle warranty, we are demonstrating to customers our confidence in the kits, which were built to exactly complement the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger by working hand-in-hand with the engineers who use factory specs to create these vehicles — exclusive knowledge available only to Mopar.”

Mopar and Dodge also revealed specifics on pricing and performance benchmarks for the trio of Scat Pack performance stage kit options. The Scat Pack 3 stage kit will provide a boost of nearly 60 horsepower and close to 50 lb.-ft. of torque — numbers currently unmatched by any OEM without the use of a forced-induction system.

Each Scat Pack kit includes a numbered hard badge associated with its performance stage, so enthusiasts can proudly display the emblem on their vehicle as a badge of honor.

The Scat Pack 1 performance stage kit for the 2014 Dodge Challenger and 2014 Dodge Charger achieves a boost of up to 18 horsepower and 18 lb.-ft. of torque through modifications including a Mopar cold-air intake to provide increased air-flow into the engine, Mopar cat-back exhaust to free up downstream airflow, and an all-new performance calibrated engine controller, optimized to the 5.7-liter HEMI® engine.

For the 5.7-liter HEMI, Scat Pack 2 adds up to a 30 horsepower bump and is geared towards the performance enthusiast looking for that competitive edge. In addition to a customized, optimized performance calibration feature tailored for Scat Pack 2, a new Mopar performance camshaft works in conjunction with the components of the Scat Pack 1 kit to take advantage of improved engine breathing and deliver an additional acceleration advantage.

Scat Pack 3 takes aim squarely at the competitive enthusiast looking for extreme performance and ultimate bragging rights. Huge gains of up to 58 horsepower and 47 lb.-ft. of torque are realized through customized, optimized performance calibration tailored for Scat Pack 3, new Mopar performance CNC-ported cylinder heads and Mopar hi-flow headers.

Chrysler-announces-300Chrysler Canada has announced the names of the Dodge Caravan Kids English and French minor hockey teams who have won the top five cash prizes in this year’s Dodge Caravan Kids photo contest.

Photographs were submitted by more than 2,000 teams from throughout Canada who participated in the 2013-2014 Dodge Caravan Kids Program.

Founded in 2006, the Dodge Caravan Kids program is a joint effort between participating amateur hockey organizations across the country in partnership with Chrysler Canada and Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram retailers. The program aims to keep the cost of playing hockey down for families, by providing sponsorship funding to novice house league teams. Since the program started, Dodge has invested more than $5 million in program funding and has extended its reach to well over 150,000 kids who have worn either a “Dodge Caravan Kids” or “Recrues Dodge” jersey.

For the 2013-2014 season, there were 30,020 children participating in the Dodge Caravan Kids/Les Recrues Dodge team sponsorship program throughout Canada.

“Our sincere congratulations to the 2013-2014 winners of the Dodge Caravan Kids Photo Contest,” said Ed Broadbear, Vice-President of Marketing, Chrysler Canada. “Hockey is woven into the landscape of Canada, just like the Dodge Grand Caravan is woven into the driveways of millions of families around the world. We are thrilled to be able to help so many kids further enjoy the sport of hockey by making it more affordable to Canadian families.”

The Dodge Caravan Kids photo contest encouraged teams to take a fun photo incorporating a Dodge Grand Caravan, their local Dodge dealership or a fun way to say thank you to Dodge.

$3,000 in cash prizes was awarded to the teams, based on their rankings. These additional funds are often used by the teams to support an end of year banquet, replace equipment, purchase additional ice time, or pay for tournament registration costs.
